GARDNER – DROHAN
Palm ferns and tall standards of roses and peonies
decorated St. Anthony’s church for the marriage Monday morning of Mary Helen
Drohan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin J. Drohan, to James B. Gardner, son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Gardner. Msgr. J. J. McGrand officiated. Miss K. Kennedy
played the wedding music. During the signing of the register Mrs. J. Nevins
sang. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory slipper
satin made period design with sweetheart neckline and bouffant skirt extending
into a long train. Her ivory fingertip veil with scalloped edge and shirred
halo was caught with orange blossoms. She carried a cascade bouquet of roses
and bouvardia. Margaret Drohan, sister of the bride, maid of honor, wore a
gown of forget-me-not blue triple sheer with matching hat and carried a
colonial nosegay of roses and forget-me-nots. The bridesmaids, Miss Helen
Donovan and Miss Marjorie Diemert, wore gowns of blush pink triple sheer with
matching hats and carried colonial nosegays. Joseph Campbell was best man.
The ushers were Joseph LeMoine and Walter Danaher. Following the ceremony, a
reception was held at the Savarin where the bride’s mother received wearing a
gown of navy blue French crepe with large white picture hat and corsage of
roses and bouvardia. The groom’s mother, who also received, was in navy blue
triple sheer over flowered satin with corsage of roses and bouvardia. The
couple then left on a wedding trip to the Laurentians, the bride travelling in
a gray two-piece frock with matching accessories, rose dust coat with platinum
fox collar. On their return they will reside in Mimico. The nuptial mass was
served by John Drohan, of St. Augustine’s seminary, brother of the bride, and
Frank Manley.
